I feel stupid for not trying this before, but I kind of hate to unplug the drive from my Mac now since it took so long to complete the IBoysoft scan and then if that doesn't work, I'll be back at square one. I also saw some people recommending plugging the drive into a Windows computer to see if it might be able to repair it. But I decided to do a bit more research on IBoysoft before moving forward with purchasing a subscription from them and getting my data downloaded, and now I'm seeing some not-so-positive things about that software and that it could potentially cause damage to an already compromised drive which scares me! After nearly 24 hours of scanning, it *looks* like all the files are there. I had someone recommend the software IBoysoft for recovery, so I decided to run a free scan.
I want to be able to get my client their videos ASAP, so I started looking into data recovery (don't have time to send it to Seagate and wait for them to recover/repair it) I have all my video files backed up of course, but I don't have my Final Cut Pro save file which contains hours upon hours of editing work. I also tried running first aid which failed. When I went to disk utility I could see the drive but it was listed as unmounted. When I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, it was no longer showing up. I was in the middle of editing a video (I am a wedding videographer) and all of a sudden it showed disconnected.
